Built by Tata Motors for the 2014 Auto Expo, this Sumo 4x4 instantly gained fans. It was believed that there would be a production version soon, but it never happened.
The owner has tried real hard to make this Tata Sumo look like a G-Wagen. A massive G-Wagen grille, Mercedes logo, fake airintakes, new headlamp housings - a lot of work has gone into this Sumo.
No. The Sumo proportions are still quite clear. But take it to a village, or see it on a dark night and you may mistake it for a G-Wagen for a second or two.
This one is a better mod job on the Sumo. The black paint job helps. It gets LED projector headlamps, Merc logo, LED DRLs and modified bumper. But most of the G-Wagen look is from the front only.
This one looks more like its inspired than faking it. This is an ex-Army Tata Sumo 4x4, so it is definitely a capable vehicle.
Note the massive off road steel bumper. This is a serious off road vehicle with its M/T tyres, electric winch and snorkel. This Sumo can tackle some serious off road obstacles and also is capable of water-wading thanks to the snorkel and increased height.
Serious Land Rover Defender vibes here! This is also an ex-Army Sumo 4x4, picked up in an auction by the owner. It still retains the original engine that produces 90 bhp and 190 Nm torque.
Wide custom-built wheel arches house massive 33/12.5 R15 inch tyres fitted on 15-inch alloy wheels. This modified Sumo can make you wish Tata would produce an updated 4x4 Sumo!
