Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 Sherpa: Details
In the next video, the presenter visits the engine tent of Royal Enfield Himalayan 452. There, he meets Benjamin Ady, the Team leader of Engine Design, who explains all about the new Himalayan 452’s Sherpa 452 engine. He first shows a small introduction video and then starts talking about his experience in the company and the story behind the development of this new engine.
The engine lead explains that the new Sherpa 452 engine has been built from the ground up and features many elements that have never been part of any Royal Enfield engine. Some of the main highlights of the new Sherpa 452 engine are drive-by-wire, liquid cooling, improved power and torque figures, and the delivery of it. He adds that the engine overall has been made a lot smoother and quieter.
The new Himalayan’s Sherpa 452 engine, as per Ady, has achieved a 65% increase in peak power, 25% in peak torque, and 25% in peak engine speed. He also mentions that they have tried to keep the torque curve similar to the old Himalayan; however, it now offers a 20%, 22%, and 68% increment in rev bands including 3000, 5000, and 7000 rpms. The engine is also much lighter than before because of the extensive use of aluminum and smart packaging.
