A family of four spending their vacation in Munnar, Kerala faced a tragedy caused by distracted driving. The incident happened in the ghats of Munnar when the wife was following cycle-borne husband in a car. The woman knocked down the man from behind causing fatal injuries.
The woman was driving in the couples’ car with her two kids, slowly following the husband Ashok Sukumaran Nair, who was riding a cycle ahead. According to initial reports, the incident occurred when Reshmi tried to adjust the volume of the music system and got distracted, but this was disputed by Ashok’s friends. Nair, a long-distance cycling enthusiast, fell unconscious.
The two young daughters of the couple, one aged 7 and the other aged 5, were inside the car when the accident happened.
Cops have said that except for minor abrasions, there was no other external injury to the body. The man, however, was bleeding profusely from the nose. Ashok was taken to the hospital by his wife, but the man did not survive the injuries. Currently, the wife is also admitted to the hospital because of shock.
