Will this 2021 Force Gurkha 4×4 SUV parked outside in snow start in freezing cold temperature? [Video]

In India Mahindra Thar is currently the most affordable 4×4 SUV in the market. After Thar, it the all-new Force Gurkha which was launched in the market last year. The all-new or the BS6 Force Gurkha is priced at Rs 13.59 lakh, ex-showroom and in comparison the previous models, Force has improved a lot of things. When it comes to off-roading, Force Gurkha is much more capable than its competition. It is a hardcore off-road machine and there are several videos available online proving the point. Here we have a video where an Force Gurkha expert tries to start the SUV in -8 degree Celsius after the SUV has been parked out in the snow overnight.

The video has been uploaded by Studious Wanderer on their YouTube channel. The video starts with vlogger following the expert driver of the Force Gurkha. The Force Gurkha seen here is the recently launched BS6 version. The 2021 Force Gurkha gets more features when compared to the previous version. Remote central locking is one such feature. The driver can be heard saying in the video that the car was parked out in the snow overnight. Normally, it is recommended to start diesel cars at equal intervals at night if you are a place where it gets extremely cold. This is done in order to avoid the diesel in the tank from freezing.

The driver mentions that the temperature was -8 degrees when the video was being shot. The expert opens the door and then inserts the key into the ignition hole. After inserting the key, all the notification lights on the dashboard glow up and the coil sign of the heater starts glowing. Driver then waits until the heater sign on the dashboard goes off. Meanwhile, he mentions that most of the new vehicles that are BS6 compliant are not likely to face any issue while cold starts.

In case of Force Gurkha, it can start easily in temperatures as low as -20 degrees. Anything below that the diesel pump on the Force Gurkha has to be warmed up using steam. Putting fire under the engine or pouring hot water on the engine bay is not a good idea in such situations. By this time, the heater coil light had gone off and the driver turned the key. Force Gurkha started in just one crank like nothing had happened. The engine did not struggle at all. Vlogger was very impressed with this.

Coming to the design, Force Gurkha gets a design which is inspired from Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. There are several older Force Gurkha SUVs in India that have been modified to look like G-Wagen. The SUV now offers a touchscreen infotainment system, bi-LED lights with dotted LED DRLs around it, front facing rear seats, redesigned tail lamps and so on. It is powered by a BS6 compliant, 2.6 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 91 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. It comes with manual locking differentials for both front and rear and has low ratio transfer case.
