Yes, most parts of India don’t have unfavourable weather conditions for the best part of the year, but on the days the weather is right, the joy of driving a convertible cannot be replicated. Here’s a list of all the convertibles that are on sale in India today.
Price: Rs 5.80 lakhs- Rs 8.72 lakhs
The Thar which is on sale in the country is a soft top version with a fabric roof which means that when needed, the fabric can be removed and you are left with a convertible. The cheapest Thar which is on offer is the Di 2wd version which starts at Rs 5.80 lakhs where as the top of the line CRDe version costs Rs 8.72 lakhs. The DI is powered by a 2.6 liter engine making 63 Bhp & 182.5 Nm where as the CRDe has 2.5 liter unit making 105 Bhp & 247 Nm.

The Gypsy has been on sale in India for a long while now. We have seen a lot of bollywood movies where the Gypsy soft top has been used for leisure drives or safaris in the Jungle. The Gypsy continues to be offered in the soft top version. Priced at Rs 6.08 lakhs, it is powered by the 1.3 liter G Series engine making 80 Bhp & 103 Nm.
Mini Cooper S Convertible
Price: Rs 34.90 lakhs
Mini recently launched the Cooper S Convertible at Rs 34.90 lakhs. The car is powered by a 2.0 liter turbo petrol making 189 Bhp & 280 Nm. If you want a fun to drive convertible, look no further.
Audi A3 Cabriolet
Price: Rs 45.90 lakhs
Audi offers the A3 cabriolet with the same 1.8 liter TFSi engine as on the A3 petrol. It makes 177 Bhp & 250 Nm. The car is priced at Rs 45.90 lakhs.
Price: Rs 75 lakhs – Rs 1.26 crores
The SLK has been in the market for quite some time now. It is also one of the very few hard top covertibles on sale in the country. It is currently available in 2 versions, the SLK 350 petrol priced at Rs 75 lakhs & the SLK 55 AMG priced at Rs 1.26 crores. The 350 is the cheapest hardtop on sale in the country. The 350 is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 making 306 Bhp & 370 Nm. The 55 AMG on the other hand is powered by a turbocharged 5.5 liter V8 making 421 Bhp & 540 Nm.
Mercedes E400 Cabriolet
Price: Rs 78.50 lakhs
For those looking for a larger covertible, the E400 does the job well. Even the previous generation E Class was available in both Coupe & Cabriolet forms. Pricing starts at Rs 78.50 lakhs & it is powered by a turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 making 333 Bhp & 480 Nm.
Price: Rs 77.50 lakhs – Rs 78.50 lakhs
The BMW Z4 is the second hardtop covertible on sale in India, after the SLK. It is available in 2 variants priced at Rs 77.50 lakhs & Rs 78.50 lakhs respectively. It is powered by a 3.0 liter straight six making 302 Bhp & 400 Nm.
Price: Rs 1.02 crores – Rs 1.15 crores
The Boxter is now only available in the S or the GTS trim & hence the price has risen to Rs 1.02 crores for the S & Rs 1.15 crores for the GTS. The S is powered by a 3.4 liter flat 6 motor producing 315 Bhp & 360 Nm. The GTS on the other hand gets a more powerful tune making 330 Bhp & 370 Nm. The car has already got an update globally & this will soon be available to the Indian public.
Price: Rs 1.54 crores – Rs 1.81 crores
The Jaguar F-Type was only available as a convertible for quite some time. Currently, the F-Type is available with 2 engine options, a 3.0 liter petrol making 375 Bhp & 460 Nm & a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 making 488 Bhp & 625 Nm.
