Earlier this year, we had featured a story on our website saying that Yamaha has trademarked the name FZ-X in India. The manufacturer was planning for a new product for our market and it was rumoured that Yamaha might be introducing an adventure version of the regular FZ-Fi motorcycle that is already on sale in our market. Couple of months ago, the upcoming motorcycle was spotted testing on our roads and it was clear that Yamaha was not launching an adventure motorcycle. The FZ-X is more a scrambler-like motorcycle and Yamaha has now confirmed that they will be launching the all-new motorcycle on 18th of June 2021.
The manufacturer does not mention what motorcycle or product they will be launching on 18th but, we feel that we are likely to see the FZ-X. They will be launching their all new product in a virtual launch event at 11 AM on June 18th, 2021. The FZ-X is actually a retro looking modern motorcycle which is designed to look like a scrambler. The design on the upcoming motorcycle is quite different from what we have seen on other Yamaha motorcycles so far. The upcoming Yamaha FZ-X gets a retro looking design with modern day features.
The headlight is a simple round unit which is expected to come with LED lights in it. The front forks and gaiters on it help the motorcycle with its retro looks. The instrument cluster is expected to be a digital unit similar to what we have seen in FZ-Fi before. It is expected to come with Bluetooth connectivity features as well. The motorcycle does not have a proper scrambler design as the fuel tank is quite tall and it slopes down and meets the seat. It feels like a mix of both scrambler and a cruiser motorcycle. The handle bar will offer an upright riding position to the rider.
The fuel tank is a brand new unit and it comes with FZ-X branding on it. The seat is almost flat and there is a grab rail for the pillion too. The front and rear fender are designed to justify the scrambler look of the motorcycle. The wheels on the upcoming Yamaha FZ-X motorcycle are blacked out multi-spoke alloy wheel units and both front and rear would come with disc brakes.
Yamaha has not revealed any information regarding the upcoming FZ-X motorcycle but, a leaked document in the past confirms that it will be sharing a lot with its sibling FZ-Fi. The upcoming FZ-X is expected to use the same frame as regular FZ but, it is expected to be a bit longer than the FZ-Fi. Just like FZ-Fi, the upcoming FZ-X will also be using the same 149-cc, single cylinder, fuel injected engine that generates 12.4 Ps and 13.3 Nm of peak torque. From the information that we know about the motorcycle so far, it is clear that the FZ-X will be presented in the market as a premium 150-cc motorcycle and will be priced above the regular FZ-Fi and FZS-Fi. For prices and more details about the upcoming FZ-X keep checking our website on 18th of this month.
