Recently we reported about the new Yamaha YZF-R1 getting a neat price cut of upwards of Rs 2.5 lakh. Actually, prices of CBU imports by Yamaha have been revised due to a reduction in import duty on these motorcycles. Hence, the Yamaha MT-09 naked street bike also gets a big price reduction. The Yamaha MT-09 is now cheaper by Rs 1.3 lakh as it now costs Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
So, basically, prices of the Yamaha MT-09, which comes to us via Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, have reduced from Rs 10.88 lakh to Rs 9.55 lakh. The reduction in price is owing to the recent drop in the excise duty of CBU motorcycles in India. Yamaha Motor India has decided to pass on this benefit o the customer. Hence, with a price reduction of a whopping Rs 1.3 lakh, one can easily buy two motorcycles with the kind of money that the MT-09 was retailing for until a few days ago. Not, convinced? Picture this – The recently launched Yamaha R15 V3 costs Rs 1.25 lakh. On the other hand, the FZ25 costs Rs 1.27 lakh. You can pick up any of these along with the MT-09 with the money you save from the duty cut.
The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by an 847cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 115 hp along with a peak torque of 87.5 Nm. The recent price reduction in many high-end motorcycles on sale in India has made many of these highly desirable steeds substantially cheaper. While the MT-09 is still not accessible to most of the motorcycle buyers, we are happy the company has decided to pass on the benefit from import duty cuts to the customer. Ultimately, it’s the buyer who benefits the most from this Government’s decision to reduce the import duties. So, now, you can buy the MT-09 and have enough money to buy an R15 or an FZ25 for daily use. Now, how cool is that!
