YouTuber takes Jeep Meridian SUV off-road: How did it perform? [Video]

Jeep launched their all-new 7-seater SUV Meridian in the market earlier this year. It is actually an extended version of their popular made in India SUV Compass. It is Jeep’s first three-row SUV in the D-segment and is also the most affordable 7-seater SUV from the manufacture. Price for Jeep Meridian starts at Rs 29.90 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 36.95 lakh. The SUV directly rivals with SUVs like Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster in the segment. We did a detailed review of the Jeep Meridian both on and off the road. A video of the same is available on our website as well. Here we have a video where a YouTuber takes a Jeep Meridian SUV off-road.

The video has been uploaded by Yagya Sharma on his YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger is attending an event organised by Jeep where they take potential customers through an off-road course to showcase how capable the Meridian actually is. The details of the location is not mention clearly in the video. In this video, YouTuber drives the car through different obstacles to see how the SUV would perform.

He is accompanied by an experienced off-road expert in the car. He is there to guide the vlogger so that he does not end up getting the vehicle stuck. The car is being driven through a mud track and it looks like it had rained recently. Vlogger was very impressed with the way, the SUV was performing on the track. He can be heard saying in the video that he is hardly pressing the accelerator pedal. The car is just moving all on its own. He is just controlling the steering and brakes.

After driving for some distance, they reached the first obstacle. It was actually a steep ramp on which the Meridian would go up and come down from the other side. Vlogger prepared for the climb. The 4×4 was engaged and he started climbing the ramp. It was a ramp created specifically for the event. The gradient was so steep that after a point, the driver could not see where he is going. The experienced off-roader who was sitting on the co-passenger seat gives him necessary inputs so that he does not get the car off the ramp.

Once they reached the top, the hill descent control was turned on. What this does is that the vehicles started applying brakes on its own. It also restricts the vehicle from going out of control while coming down a steep slope. After this, there were obstacles that tests the off-road abilities and articulation of the vehicle. Jeep Meridian cleared all of them without any problem. Vlogger was very impressed with the off-road performance of Jeep Meridian. He can be heard saying in the video that the engine and transmission feels very smooth and the body roll in the vehicle while off-roading was also under control. Jeep Meridian is powered by the same 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that we saw in Compass. It generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission. A petrol engine is likely to be offered with Meridian in future.
