Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its all-new Swift in the market. The official launch of the popular hatchback is scheduled to happen on 9th May 2024. Last month, we reported that Maruti had increased the price of the current generation Swift. The manufacturer is now offering a discount on this hatchback just before the launch of the new generation model.

The current generation Swift is receiving a discount worth up to Rs 38,000. The discount amount varies depending on the variant. The automatic version of the Swift is eligible for a maximum discount of Rs 38,100, while the manual version of the hatchback gets a discount of Rs 33,100. The CNG version offers an even lower discount amount of Rs 18,100. We can expect more such discount offers from Maruti on Swift after the launch of the new-generation Swift as the manufacturer or the dealership would be interested in clearing the old stock.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki implemented a price hike of Rs 39,000 on the Swift. Just before the launch of the new Swift, the manufacturer is offering discounts on the car. Prior to the price hike, the starting price of the Swift was Rs 5.99 lakh, which changed to Rs 6.24 lakh, ex-showroom. Maruti Suzuki Swift has been on sale in the Indian market since 2005.

This has been an extremely popular car in its segment, catering to the needs of both enthusiasts and family car buyers. The outgoing version of the Swift is offered with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 88 Bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. The car is available with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox option. The CNG version of the Swift generates 75 Bhp and 98.5 Nm of torque, and is offered with a manual gearbox only.

New-Gen Swift

Moving to the 4th generation Swift, it features a design that has evolved from the outgoing model, appearing sleeker than before. The car comes with sleek projector headlamps and integrated LED DRLs. The redesigned front grille with gloss black outlines and mesh design gives it a distinct look.

The car has already started reaching dealerships, revealing the appearance of the lower variants. The design of the hatchback remains the same as the international version, although the model sold in India will miss out on a few features, including ADAS. This decision is intentional by Maruti to keep the price of the car in check.

Maruti Suzuki will be offering a completely redesigned cabin, featuring a layered design similar to the current version of the Baleno and Fronx. A floating-type 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen will be included. The Swift will also be equipped with a multi-function steering wheel, analog instrument cluster with a color MID, automatic climate control, and more.

When compared to the outgoing model, the new-generation Swift generates less power and torque; however, it is tuned for city use and better economy. The all-new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-Series engine generates 82 Bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option.

Maruti’s mild hybrid system will also be offered for better efficiency. Maruti will launch the new Swift with a CNG fuel option at a later stage, and also has plans to introduce a strong hybrid version of the Swift in the market.
