The heritage of India and Royal Enfield dates back to the time of independence. The bikes were imported from Great Britain back in 1949, and ever since then, they have become an integral part of Indian culture. Since their debut, all Royal Enfield bikes have been powered by petrol. However, recently, a video surfaced on the internet showing India’s first Royal Enfield motorcycle fitted with an electric motor. This bike has been fully modified to accommodate the battery pack and electric motor that enable it to be driven.

The video of India’s first fully-electric Royal Enfield Bullet has been shared on YouTube by Bikewithgirl on their YouTube channel. Bike with Girl is one of the most popular biking channels in India, and its host is known across the country for riding and showcasing a variety of unique motorcycles from India and abroad. Recently, the presenter traveled to Bengaluru to test drive what the owner claims to be India’s first-ever all-electric Royal Enfield Bullet. After the clips, the presenter introduces the bike and shows a brief glimpse of herself driving this silent Royal Enfield Bullet. Moving on, she then introduces the owner of the shop that has created this marvelous machine. According to the presenter, the bike has been created by Bulleteer Customs from Bengaluru. She asks the owner about how it came about, to which he replied that it was his first bike, gifted to him by his father when he was 18.

He mentioned that before being converted into an EV bike, it was a 1984 Royal Enfield Bullet Standard variant model, and he wanted to give it a new life. He stated that he first restored its old engine, but after doing that, he realized that he should try to give it an electric powertrain, as he wanted to pass on this bike to his son in the future. The owner added that he knew he wanted an EV motorcycle but did not like the boxy appearance of the new EV bikes. So, he set out to create his own rendition of an EV motorbike.

The presenter asked him how he managed to build this EV motorcycle, to which he answered that, in general, it was a simple task to get the bike running. The owner stated that when converting a bike from ICE to EV, it doesn’t require many modifications, as the motor is a hub-mounted motor, and the battery pack comes pre-assembled. He mentioned that the only thing they had to do was assemble everything. He added that the process became simpler because there are fewer moving parts, such as gears, pistons, and other components. He further mentioned that they got the bike running in just a week after he called up his friends to help him with the project.

Following this, the presenter takes the bike for a joyride and records the reactions of different people to this unique bike.
