Just-Launched 2024 Volkswagen Taigun GT Line: New TVC

Volkswagen India launched the Taigun GT Line and the GT Plus Sport on April 22, 2024. The company has now released a new TVC for the same. The 78-second Television Commercial is titled as ‘The new Taigun GT Line #StyledToWander,’ and uploaded on the Volkswagen India YouTube channel.

The TVC starts with a red colored Taigun driving in rainy conditions. For those who don’t know, GT Line and GT Plus Sport are the blacked out versions of the Taigun SUV. The kid sitting in the car asks her parent, “Where does the rainbow start?” The parent replies “Let’s find out” and accelerates the car highlighting its exploring capabilities.

The TVC highlights the various blacked out elements of the GT Line Taigun. The car is shown among various landscapes including mountains and sandy areas. In addition to the regular variants, the GT Line offers changes such as smoked headlights, blacked-out alloy wheels, and an all-black interior theme with grey stitching in GT line and red in the GT Plus Sport..

Based on the highline variant, it offers features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless charger, rear parking camera, and auto AC. On the other hand, the GT Plus Sport is based on the topline variant offering features such as 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a subwoofer and amplifier, ventilated and powered front seats, ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, and automatic climate control.

Volkswagen offers the Taigun with two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The smaller 1.0-litre engine produces 115 PS and 178 Nm while the 1.5-litre is much more powerful with power figures of 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The engine options and power figures are same across all variants. The GT Line variant is offered with the 1.0 litre engine while the GT Plus Sport is offered with the 1.5-litre unit.

Both the engines have an option of 6-speed manual. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre engine offers a choice of 6-speed torque converter and the 1.5-litre engine offers a 7-speed DCT.
Safety features in the Taigun include up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a rear-view camera, and seat belt reminders for all passengers.

Regarding pricing, the Volkswagen Taigun GT Line with manual transmission costs Rs. 14.08 lakhs. The automatic transmission variant, priced at Rs. 15.63 lakhs comes at a premium of Rs. 1.55 lakhs.

On the other hand, the GT Plus Sport MT and the GT Plus Sport DCT are priced at Rs. 18.54 lakhs and Rs. 19.74 lakhs respectively. The prices for the regular Taigun start at Rs. Rs 11.70 lakh and goes up to Rs 20 lakh. The brand was offering multiple discounts on the SUV.

In the Indian market, the Taigun competes with Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Citroen C3 Aircross, and Honda Elevate. The Taigun is one of the best built SUVs in this segment, and is also the one to pick if driving pleasure is a key buying criteria.
