Tata Motors is working on more engine options for their vehicles. They are working on a CNG drivetrain for the Tiago. The CNG Tiago has already been spotted and Tata has also commenced bookings for the vehicle. The Tiago CNG will be launching later this month.

It would not get any major changes. The powertrain would stay the same. So, there would be the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. However, it would now produce less power and torque. It would be offered only with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The only cosmetic difference would be the “i-CNG” badging on the tailgate.

It will also come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Punch Turbo and Diesel

According to media reports, Tata Motors is working on a turbocharged version of the Punch. The engine would be borrowed from the Altroz iTurbo. It is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. In Altroz, the engine produces 110 PS of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque. Tata Motors might retune the engine for the Punch.
