Modified Mahindra Thar Nails The Yellow-On-Black Look [Video]

Mahindra Thar Yellow Black Modified

To date, you may have seen multiple modified Mahindra Thar. But today we are going to cover a unique Thar which has been modified by Hybrid Customs. The modified SUV is showcased in a video uploaded by Dayakaran Vlogs. Now, let’s start with the details of the project.

The video starts with the car in the frame. The most eye-catching thing about this car is its colour. This Mahindra Thar is finished in a shade of yellow, which is indeed a very uncommon colour for a robust off-road SUV. The host states that this car has been wrapped which costs around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000.

Starting with the changes in the front fascia, the grille has been updated with a glossy black grille with a Yellow bar in the centre. The front plastic bumper has been replaced with a metal off-roading bumper. The host mentions that the bumper costs around Rs. 16,000.

However, metal bumpers are illegal in India due to concerns about pedestrian safety. Original fog lamps have been integrated into the bumper along with two additional projector fog lamps. A custom-built underbody protection has also been added. The headlights have been kept in stock but the bulbs are upgraded to LEDs.

The side profile of the SUV has been kept close to OEM. The alloy wheels are stock but they have been carbon-dipped. Additionally, yellow inserts have been added to the wheels, increasing the visual appeal. A functional addition to the side profile is the doorsteps.

Hummer-inspired roof lamps are also added. The pricing for the same starts at Rs. 2,500. The major highlight of this project is its roof. The host mentions that originally this was the soft-top version of the Thar which has been upgraded with a metal hard top finished in glossy black.

This solves the major issue of the Thar which is the whitening of the original hard plastic roof. Metal hard top is not only safer but it also offers the flexibility to add additional features such as a sunroof. This particular car has been fitted with a single-pane electric sunroof. Talking about the price, the host mentions that a metal hard top for Thar costs somewhere around Rs. 1.25 lakhs. A minimum of 25 days is required for the metal hard top conversion.

Mahindra Thar comes with a rear windshield separate from the tailgate. The team at Hybrid Customs has combined both making the tailgate a single unit. Changes in the interior include ambient lighting, custom-made seat covers with yellow stitching, grab handles, AMG-inspired AC vents, front & rear armrests and leather roof liner with Yellow inserts.

The Mahindra Thar is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 150 hp and 300 Nm of torque and a 2.2-litre diesel unit producing 130 hp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. Additionally, Mahindra is also planning to launch the 5-door Thar, which could be called Thar Armada. Some reports suggest that the 4X4 SUV could be launched on August 15, 2024.
