Toyota Innova has been the segment leader in its segment since its launch. Toyota launched the Innova Hycross in India back in 2022. It was a brand new product and was completley different from the older Innova Crysta MPV. Toyota understood that there was still demand for Innova Crysta and they decided to reintroduce it in the market with a diesel engine. Toyota has now launched a new GX+ variant of the Innova Crysta MPV at Rs 21.39 lakh, ex-showroom.
About the new variant, Sabari Manohar – Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Ever since its launch in 2005 Innova brand has earned an unshakable reputation of being the segment leader by setting industry benchmarks. Synonymous with quality and trust, Innova has served the diverse mobility needs of generations of Indians and continues to hold the same aspirational value.”
Toyota is offering the Innova Crysta GX+ variant in both seven and eight seater configurations. The seven-seater version is priced at Rs 21.39 lakh, ex-showroom and the 8-seater version is priced at Rs 21.44 lakh, ex-showroom. The GX+ variant sits between the GX and VX variants.
The newly launched GX+ variant is actually 1.40 to 1.45 lakh more expensive that the regular GX variant. In the GX+ variant, Toyota is offering features like rear view camera, auto-fold ORVMs, diamond-cut alloys, wooden panels, and premium fabric seats. The manufacturer is also offering dash camera with this variant.
Toyota is offering the Innova Crysta in five colour options. Namely – Super White, Attitude Black Mica, Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Silver Metallic. Toyota as we already know offers the Innova Crysta only with a diesel engine option.
The Toyota Innova Hycross which is offered as a premium MPV only comes with petrol engine. The Innova Crysta was retained in the market to cater the needs of customers who wanted a reliable diesel engine MPV.
The Innova Crysta continues to draw its power from a 2.4 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 150 Ps and 343 Nm of peak torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Innova Hycross on the other hand is available with a 2.0 litre petrol engine option. The strong hybrid version of the MPV uses an electric motor which works along with the engine to make the whole system more efficient and economical. The regular petrol version of the Innova Hycross also uses a 2.0 litre NA petrol engine. Both these engine options are available with a CVT gearbox only.
Price for Toyota Innova Crysta starts at Rs 19.99 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 26.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The Innova Hycross on the other hand has a starting price of Rs 19.77 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 30.98 lakh, ex-showroom. Recently Toyota introduced GX(O) variant of the Innova Hycross in the market.
There is a long waiting period on some of the variants of Innova Hycross and this is forcing people to look for variants that have less waiting period. There are currently no other car manufacturers that are offering a product which directly rivals with the Innova Crysta or Innova Hycross in India.
