Union Minister Ramdas Athavale’s Toyota Innova Crysta Crashes Into A Truck In Maharashtra [Video]

Ramdas Athawale's Innova Crysta

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale’s Toyota Innova Crysta was recently involved in an accident in Maharashtra. According to reports, the minister was traveling from Satara district’s Wai region toward Mumbai. The front of the Toyota Innova Crysta was heavily damaged in the accident, but thankfully, the minister and other occupants, including the driver, escaped without any major injuries.

What Happened?

According to reports circulating online on various media websites, the Toyota Innova Crysta, traveling towards Mumbai, collided hard with a container truck due to sudden braking. It appears that the driver of the container truck might have encountered an obstacle in front, forcing him to apply the brakes suddenly.

The Innova Crysta, following behind the truck, might not have had enough time to apply the brakes, leading to the collision with the container. It is known that the minister’s vehicles often drive fast on the roads, and the sudden braking by the truck driver might have left them with no time to slow down.

From the images, however, it doesn’t seem like the car was being driven at high speed, as the damage to the vehicle does not appear too serious. The front grille of the Innova Crysta is missing, and there is damage to the front bumper and bonnet. Surprisingly, both headlamps on this MPV appear undamaged.

Samir Sheikh, currently serving as the superintendent of police, confirmed that there were no injuries reported from this accident. Minister Ramdas Athawale was also unharmed and continued his journey to Mumbai after the crash. Athawale, a leader from the Republican Party of India (A), recently hinted at contesting in the Lok Sabha election 2024. He is currently deciding whether to contest from Shirdi or Solapur. After evaluating the seats and discussing it with the BJP’s high command, he will make a decision.

Be Alert While Driving

Indian roads are filled with surprises, as several past cases have shown. We still do not have clarity on what exactly happened in this accident. The minister and other occupants of the car were lucky to have escaped with no injuries. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Last year, in November, Union Minister Prahlad Patel’s car was involved in an accident in Madhya Pradesh, and the minister suffered minor injuries.

The minister’s vehicle had collided with a pedestrian who was returning home with his children. While the minister escaped the accident with minor injuries, the pedestrian lost his life. This is why we always urge people to practice defensive driving techniques on our roads. By doing so, one would always be prepared for the worst-case scenario and drive accordingly. Also, if you are driving behind a heavy vehicle like a truck, we would urge you to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle.

If you want to overtake, always do it from the right lane. If you are driving at night, always use your headlights and horns to ensure that the truck driver has seen your vehicle and given way to overtake.
