Affordable matte paint cars of India: From Kia Seltos to Volkswagen Virtus

Over the last few years, matte-finished cars have become a style statement in the country. A number of automakers in India are now catering to this demand by offering this unique paint in their affordable vehicles. This trend, which was brought to India by the South Korean automaker Kia, has now encouraged other carmakers like Volkswagen and Skoda to offer this exquisite paint finish option with their popular cars.

Kia Seltos X-Line variants

As mentioned above, Kia introduced the matte finish on affordable cars in the country with its popular mid-size SUV, the Seltos. The SUV was launched with a Matte Grey color option and is now continued with the Seltos facelift as well. Exclusive to the X-Line variant, this top-spec model starts at Rs 19.60 lakh, reaching up to Rs 20.30 lakh.

Kia Sonet X-Line variants

Following in the footsteps of its elder sibling Seltos, the Kia Sonet also comes offered with the matte paint trend with its X-Line variants. At the moment, the pre-facelift Sonet X-Line variants start at Rs 13.89 lakh and go up to Rs 14.89 lakh. The company has recently also unveiled the new Sonet facelift X-Line variant as well, and this new sub-compact SUV will also be getting the same matte paint finish.

Kia Carens X-Line variants

Third and the last Kia on this list is the Kia Carens premium MPV. Just like its other siblings, the matte paint finish is offered with the X-Line variants. Priced between Rs 18.95 lakh and Rs 19.44 lakh, these models boast the exclusive “Xclusive Matte Graphite” exterior. Meanwhile, the interior of these models features the “Xclusive Two-Tone Black and Splendid Sage Green” theme.

Volkswagen Virtus GT Edge Plus Matte Edition

Coming to the German carmakers, Volkswagen also entered the matte paint arena with the Virtus GT Edge Plus Matte Edition. This matte-painted car starts at Rs 17.62 lakh. The new Virtus GT sedan is offered with an elegant Carbon Steel Grey Matte finish, which sets this mid-size sedan apart. The Virtus GT is one of the most popular mid-size sedans in the country at the moment.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Matte Edition

In addition to the Virtus GT, Volkswagen also offers its compact SUV Taigun in the GT Edge Matte Edition as well. This variant continues the matte legacy and features the Carbon Steel Grey Matte paint. With a price range from Rs 21.77 lakh to Rs 23.15 lakh, this mid-size SUV is one of the popular choices among buyers of the compact SUV segment. Buyers can choose from the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine or the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

Skoda Slavia Matte Edition

Based on the same MQB A0 IN platform, Skoda’s mid-size sedan, the Slavia, also dazzles up in the Matte Edition with the Carbon Steel exterior paint. The Slavia is priced between Rs 15.52 lakh and Rs 19.12 lakh. Also, just like all the other MQB A0 IN platform cars, the Slavia is also offered with two powertrain options – the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition

Last but not least, the Skoda Kushaq joins the matte league with its exclusive Matte Edition, priced at Rs 16.19 lakh. For an additional Rs 40,000 over the standard variant, customers can choose to opt for the matte paint finish for their compact SUV. Like its sibling, the Kushaq features the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
