From the rendered picture of the forthcoming Toyota Fortuner Hybrid shared on Instagram by Malvinwsetiawan on their profile, it can be observed that the front of the car will receive a brand-new design. Departing from the sharp, edgy design language of the current outgoing SUV, it will now feature a bolder and more muscular front design. The grille will be larger than the one in the current model, and the LED headlights will be replaced with newer and bigger units, featuring additional air channels beneath them. At first glance, the new Fortuner seems to be inspired by its closest rival in the country, the MG Gloster.

Furthermore, the front bumper will also undergo a complete redesign, featuring blacked-out air dams on the sides with LED DRLs placed on them. The rendered iteration of the Fortuner Hybrid shows a giant silver skid plate as well. The side profile doesn’t seem to be much altered compared to the outgoing model, but further changes may emerge as development progresses. As of now, there are no leaked images of the rear of the forthcoming Fortuner.

It is believed that the new model will likely receive a comprehensive interior overhaul. The redesigned dashboard is expected to offer a wide array of modern features catering to the demands of today’s drivers, promising a more immersive and comfortable driving experience. Toyota seems keen on impressing the Indian market by considering their preferences and offering a sunroof, adding a touch of luxury to the popular SUV.

Another significant addition to the 2024 Toyota Fortuner could be the introduction of a mild-hybrid system, aiming to enhance the SUV’s fuel efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint, in line with growing environmental concerns. The existing 2.8-liter GD series four-cylinder diesel engine is likely to be equipped with an innovative mild-hybrid system. This technology, similar to the one utilized in the highly popular Toyota MPV, the Innova Hycross, integrates a 48V battery and a small electric motor generator, working in harmony with the engine to optimize both performance and efficiency.

Although an official launch date is yet to be confirmed, given the Fortuner’s immense popularity in the Indian market, it is expected to grace Indian showrooms sometime next year. With its updated design, enhanced features, and the eco-friendly mild-hybrid system, the 2024 Toyota Fortuner Hybrid has high chances of retaining its top spot in the Indian full-size SUV lineup. Currently, the Fortuner stands as the highest-selling full-size SUV in the country, dominating its segment and only rivaled by the MG Gloster, as the Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4 have been discontinued.
