According to the reports, as a response to the incident, Pune authorities sealed both pubs involved. They have cited that these pubs were found violating the law by serving alcohol to a minor. The police have also arrested the owners of Cosie and Blak Mariott for permitting underage drinking.

CCTV footage confirmed the teenager’s consumption of alcohol. However, the blood test results are pending to further substantiate the charges. According to ACP Manoj Patil, after the verification of CCTV footage, they have invoked Section 185 (drinking and driving) against Vedant Agarwal, the prime accused.

Details of this horrifying accident

For those who may still be unaware of this terrible accident, it took place on a narrow road in Pune, involving a Porsche Taycan electric sedan that had been running without proper registration since March. The car belonged to Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real estate developer and the father of the accused.

As per the sources, despite paying Rs 45,000 for a chosen registration number, Agarwal had failed to complete the registration process. It is being reported that a fee of Rs 1,758 was unpaid, and because of this, the vehicle was not registered and was being driven illegally on the road.

Aftermath of the accident

Soon after the crash, the kid was taken out of his car and beaten by the public present at the spot. Following this, the juvenile driver was booked under several sections of the IPC. His charges included Section 304A (causing death by negligence), 279, 337, 338, and 427, along with other relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act.

However, the Juvenile Justice Board granted him bail within 15 hours of detention. The most embarrassing part is that he was granted bail with conditions such as community service with the Yerawada traffic police and writing an essay on the incident. Another condition stated that he has to undergo psychiatric counseling to address his drinking habits.
